The British political and media establishments have ignored England and the English for far too long. It’s time that stopped. The English Standard is a viewspaper for the people of England. Our mission is to help un-spin the British media’s bias reporting on English issues and to help hold to account the UK politicians who fail to represent their English constituents. Hopefully you will be entertained and amused on the way.
We have a strong editorial viewpoint : pro England on everything. However this does not mean we are anti anyone… Ok, ok – we’re anti European Union – that is to say; we’re anti England being in the EU without the consent of its people.
On identity: we acknowledge the English ethnicity. But we believe that Englishness as an identity is not restricted by ethnicity, origin or religion. Ultimately we believe England’s future relies upon the people of England being the English. This is no burden to anyone. There is freedom in Englishness – our homes are our castles. There is equality in Englishness – we are the freeborn English. We see an inclusive civic English identity as the solution to the UK’s legacy of a nation divided along ethnic and religious lines.
Ultimately our aim is to contribute in some small way to the reclamation of England and Englishness from the moribund so called “Union” of the UK.
