The other day the SNP  launched their Yes Scotland campaign and website. The objective is to get a million Scots to sign up and support independence prior to the 2014 referendum.

All good from the perspective of the English Standard – we wish them well.

However, it’s not just Scots who want independence for Scotland, plenty of English folks do too. With that in mind the ES and some like minded friends are going to build a companion campaign and website called Dear Scotland. Like Yes Scotland it will be a petition site where people sign up to support the cause, in this instance the cause is Dear Scotland – please vote for independence! You know, hopefully a helpful nudge in the right direction?

What do readers think of the idea? As with all petitions it stands or falls on the number of signatories and looking at the dire performance of the English Parliament petition on the Number 10 website perhaps we shouldn’t be optimistic. However, if we don’t try we’ll never know and this might be something that helps break the pattern of English lethargy. There’s a fairly good chance that the mainstream media might run with the idea as a story too – which could really help it take off. Lets face it, it’s just about the only way the English can have any say on the subject.

If you think it’s worth a go you can help.  Please consider making a donation to support the project and help get it off the ground and to help publicise it once live.
